How do I install the Report Message Add-In for Outlook?

Overview

The Report Message Add-In for Outlook allows users to report suspicious or junk email messages to Microsoft. Reporting these messages allows both Microsoft and MSU Denver to better detect potential scams and update automatic block lists accordingly.

Before you begin...

  • These instructions are only for people using the Outlook Desktop App. The Outlook Web App and Outlook Mobile App have integrated reporting options which don't require any additional steps to enable.
  • The Report Message Add-In is automatically available for MSU Denver accounts, but there may be instances where it is not installed correctly. If you are unable to locate reporting options in the Outlook Desktop App, you can try these steps to ensure you have the Add-In installed.

Instructions

  1. Open the Outlook Desktop App.
  2. Select the File tab.
  3. Select Manage Add-ins.

  4. If prompted, log in to your MSU Denver email account.
  5. In the window that opens, select the Search add-ins bar in the upper-right corner.
  6. Type "Report Message".
  7. In the search results, select the Report Message item.

  8. In the following screen, click Get it now.

Result

You may need to restart Outlook in order for the add-in installation to complete. Once installed, you should be able to report messages by right-clicking an individual message, or by using the Report Message option in the Home ribbon.
