Overview

This article will guide you to make a preset for Xerox printers on Mac computers. This is useful when you find yourself using the same printer settings repeatedly. For example, you always want to print in color or black and white or you want your print job to be sent to the left output tray every time or pull a certain kind of a paper from a certain tray.

Before you begin...

  • Ensure you are running macOS Ventura: This article was written for macOS Ventura 13.5.1. The System Settings app and many system print dialogs have changed dramatically from previous versions of macOS. The general flow is the same, but if you are having trouble following these directions, upgrade to the newest version on your Mac. For more information, see How are operating system updates performed on MSU Denver computers?
  • Install the printer ahead of time: Ensure you have installed the printer you want to set a preset for before beginning. For more information, see How do I print on campus? Most Xerox printers will be a "directory printer".
  • Ensure you have the latest drivers installed: There is a bug for Xerox 5.8 print drivers specifically on macOS Ventura where the Xerox features page shows up blank. This can be fixed by installing the latest Xerox 5.13 drivers from Self-Service. Please restart your computer after doing this.
