Overview
When you run a report in Banner, the output is provided in a .lis file. While these can be viewed on both Windows or Mac computers, you may receive an error on a Mac if no default program to view or edit .lis files with has been set. You can fix this by taking the steps below.
Before you begin...
- Power on your Mac.
- Have a .lis file available (e.g. run a Banner report and download the output file).
- Open Finder and locate your .lis file.
Instructions
- Right-click the .lis file within Finder.
- Click Get Info.
- In the next menu, click the arrow to the left of "Open With:"
- Click Other...
- In the window that opens, in the sidebar, click Applications.
- Click TextEdit (you may need to scroll through the list to find it, depending on how many applications you have installed).
- Click Add.
- Verify that TextEdit now shows up in the dropdown box under "Open With:"
- Click Change All...
- In the confirmation window that appears, click Continue.
Result
Open your .lis file to verify that you can now read it in TextEdit.
