What is Power Apps?

Power Apps is a suite of apps, services, and connectors, as well as a data platform, that provides a rapid development environment to build custom apps for your business needs. Using Power Apps, you can quickly build custom business apps that connect to your data stored either in the underlying data platform (Microsoft Dataverse) or in various online and on-premises data sources (such as SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, SQL Server, and so on).

Who is licensed to use Power Apps?

  • Faculty and Staff are licensed with Power Apps for Office 365, included in their Microsoft 365 A5 license with limited Power Apps capabilities that allow makers/creators to create apps with standard data connectors and restricted to only run within Microsoft Teams.
     
  • Students and Student Employees are licensed to only run shared Power Apps within Microsoft Teams, covered under the Microsoft 365 A5 student use benefit license.

How do I request access to Power Apps?

Power Apps for Office 365 license is automatically assigned to all Students, Faculty and Staff upon MSU Denver NetID account activation.

For full Power Apps capabilities, Pro Apps standalone licenses are required and a request for procurement can be submitted through the Software Request for University Devices.

How do I access Power Apps?

  • Direct URL: https://make.powerapps.com/
     
  • Within Microsoft Teams App:
    1. Open Microsoft Teams, and then select More added apps (...).​​​​​​
    2. Search for Power Apps.
    3. Select Add. Power Apps is now added to Teams and is accessible from the left pane.

What support is available for Power Apps?

ITS only provide limited support for access to Power Apps, login and licensing. If you receive access errors or you feel it is not running correctly, please submit a Software Issues & Errors request.
