Overview of requesting a Blackboard Course Archive
Blackboard Learn was the university's former LMS that was retired with the advent of Canvas in 2020. End-of-semester course archives from Blackboard were created back to Spring, 2018 (201830). The archived course materials include course content, not student data nor grades.
A Blackboard course archive can be requested by the primary instructor of record or department chair. The request will be reviewed and the Blackboard Learn course archive will be shared via Microsoft One-drive to the requestor to download and use as needed (either import into a Canvas sandbox shell they have or they can upload to their one drive account for long term storage).
Who can request this?
The Primary Instructor of record (as identified by Banner) or the Department chair of the course can make a request to obtain a Blackboard Learn course archive.
Requirements and How-to's of this request
1. This service's request form will ask for the specific semester and CRN for the archive you are wanting.
- Faculty can obtain previous semester course information (semester and CRN) from your self-service banner account ( Faculty/Staff Hub --> Self-Service Banner --> Faculty & Advisor Services --> Faculty Detail Schedule) or work with their departments Class Schedule Coordinator to obtain that information.
2. The requestor and creator of the ticket must be either the primary instructor of record in Banner (course content owner) or Department Chair for that course to approve the distribution of the course content to others.
What to expect
The request will be reviewed and the Blackboard Learn course archive will be shared via Microsoft One-drive to the requestor to download and use as needed (either import into a Canvas sandbox shell* they have or they can upload to their one drive account for long term storage).
*Please see the tutorials located at https://msudenver.edu/ctld/ready for instructions to import a course from Blackboard to one of your existing Canvas sandbox courses.
