MATLAB is a programming and numeric computing platform used by millions of engineers and scientists to analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models.
MATLAB combines a desktop environment tuned for iterative analysis and design processes with a programming language that expresses matrix and array mathematics directly. It includes the Live Editor for creating scripts that combine code, output, and formatted text in an executable notebook.
MATLAB toolboxes are professionally developed, rigorously tested, and fully documented.
MATLAB apps let you see how different algorithms work with your data. Iterate until you’ve got the results you want, then automatically generate a MATLAB program to reproduce or automate your work.
Scale your analyses to run on clusters, GPUs, and clouds with only minor code changes. There’s no need to rewrite your code or learn big data programming and out-of-memory techniques.

Who is licensed to use MATLAB?
All Faculty, Staff, and Students are licensed to use MATLAB on their MSU Denver issued computers. However, the total number of licenses is limited and can only be used by 125 users concurrently.
How do I request access to MATLAB?
Faculty and Staff: MATLAB is distributed to MSU Denver issued PCs through Software Center. Because of the extremely large size of the download and length of install, we recommend installing it while connected to the campus wired network, and require a request be placed through the Software Request for University Devices so we can make sure the process is a smooth one. If you require MATLAB to be installed in a department lab, please submit a Software Request for University Devices so that we can schedule that deployment.
Students: MATLAB is available in all MSU Denver general computer labs, various department labs, the Tutoring Center, and the Access Center.
How do I access MATLAB?
You will need the GlobalProtect client to be installed and access granted to run MATLAB outside of the university network. For more information or to request access please view What is GlobalProtect? knowledge base article. Once you have enabled GlobalProtect and installed MATLAB from one of the methods above, you can launch the application from your Start menu (Windows), the application will connect to your license server and you will be able to use it.
If you require assistance using the application, please contact your instructor, department tutor, or supervisor for help.
If you experience trouble installing the application, you receive license errors, or you feel it is not running correctly, please submit a Software Issues & Errors request.
