How do I add a network printer to my MSU Denver Windows computer?

Overview

This article will guide you to add a networked, on-campus printer that is not published in the directory to your computer.

Before you begin...

  1. This process should only be used for single-user machines. DO NOT IMPLEMENT THESE STEPS FOR SHARED MACHINES OR LAB COMPUTERS.
  2. This article is for faculty and staff using an MSU Denver ITS-issued Windows computer wishing to add a network printer that is not currently listed in the directory
  3. If you believe your printer is a directory printer (label on printer says so) please go to the How do I print on campus? page to find the right article that suits your needs.
  4. You must know the printer's name and server, which can sometimes be found on a label on the physical printer or by asking someone else in your department.
  5. To print on campus, your computer must be either:
    • Hard-wired into the network using a docking station or Ethernet cable.
    • Connected to MSUDenver-ISE WiFi network.
    • Connected to a WiFi network with the GlobalProtect VPN turned on and connected.
